About Lino

A lifelong Marylander, a union leader, a neighbor

Lino Cressotti has spent his life doing the work and standing with the people who do it. Here is how he got here, and why he is running.

Lino Cressotti is a lifelong Marylander, union leader, and advocate for working families, running for State Senate in District 38 to represent Somerset, Worcester, and Wicomico counties.

Born in Washington, D.C. and raised in Prince George’s County, Lino learned the value of hard work and responsibility at an early age. After the loss of his mother as a child, he was raised by his father, an Air Force veteran, who instilled in him discipline, independence, and a strong work ethic. Lino began working at just 12 years old and has carried that commitment to hard work throughout his life.

Lino built his career in the building trades as a union insulator and proud member of Local 24. Over more than three decades, he rose through the ranks, serving as Executive Board Member, Vice President, President, and ultimately Business Manager of Local 24. In that role, he represented hundreds of working men and women, negotiating contracts, resolving disputes, and ensuring fair wages, strong benefits, and job opportunities for his members.

In addition to leading the union, Lino served as Chairman of both the Pension Fund and Medical Fund and played a key role in apprenticeship programs that trained the next generation of skilled workers. He also worked closely with local and state officials to advocate for policies that support job growth, workforce development, and economic opportunity across Maryland.

After retiring in 2018, Lino continued his commitment to public service. He currently serves as a Baltimore County Liquor Board Inspector and remains active in workforce advocacy, encouraging young people to pursue careers in the skilled trades through apprenticeship programs that provide good-paying jobs without the burden of college debt.

In 2024, Lino and his wife of nearly 40 years made the Eastern Shore their full-time home, settling in Ocean Pines. Together, they have raised three children and are proud grandparents to nine grandchildren. Lino stays active in the community, including the Ocean City Power Squadron, where he will serve as Commander, and charitable efforts such as Believe in Tomorrow.
